The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.de) undertakes applied research of direct utility to private and public enterprise and of wide benefit to society. Its services are solicited by customers and contractual partners in industry, the service sector and public administration.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF located in Magdeburg specializes in applied research and development in the fields of robotics, measurement and testing technology, digital engineering, logistics, material handling engineering and systems and process and plant engineering. Its contract research clients include public authorities, international industrial concerns, the service industry and small and medium-sized enterprises.

The institute has extensive expertise in the development of automated solutions for manufacturing, laboratories, logistics and personal care.  In the field of robotics, IFF is specialized in safe human-robot interaction and service robots for inspection and cleaning. The institute develops and employs digital technologies for all stages of product and production development processes.

What motivates us

ECHORD is an attractive project on European and international level offering the possibility to conduct application-oriented research with less administrative effort than EU-funded STREP or IP- projects. In contrast to regular national and EU projects, the experiments can be realized in small, effective consortia. Furthermore, ECHORD provides a great visibility of the experiment and its partners all over Europe and world-wide, which was a major reason for us to participate with several experiment proposals.
